Horses undergoing light work or pleasure horses are advised to have a 'check-up' twice yearly with Performance horses being seen more frequently.

Horses, like humans, compensate for pain by adopting a less painful way of moving. Horses are extremely good at this stemming from the fact they are prey animals. This can mean some conditions can go unnoticed for long periods of time, long enough for changes in muscles and soft tissues to take place. If left unaddressed these changes can become permenant and performance limiting.
