Dr. Fiona Bloom

I began my career as a physiotherapist for people, qualifying from the University of Hertfordshire in 2007 and working in NHS hospitals and then private practice. While still treating human patients, I completed my MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy at the Royal Veterinary College in 2011, and I went on to work as both a human and veterinary physiotherapist. Working with both people and animals has given me a broad view of how bodies move, recover and adapt.

My interest in research led me to a PhD at Hartpury University, where I studied the gait problems that cause horses to be withdrawn from endurance competitions. I now lecture on Hartpury's MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy course, teaching anatomy, biomechanics, diagnostics and rehabilitation, and supervising student research. My research continues to focus on horses and riders, particularly the risk factors behind lameness in equestrian sport and variables influencing performance.

At Physio Evolution, I advise the team on more complex cases and run regular training sessions, so the care your animal receives is based on the latest evidence and best practice.
